The position of Life Members was created to recognize and honor past Board of Governors and Woman’s Board members who, over the years, have given unusually outstanding leadership, service, and support to Winnetka Community House. The life members have taken an active part in the affairs of Winnetka Community House. The life member’s position provides a means of continued involvement in an ex-officio capacity. Each individual’s experience and input will be extremely valuable to Winnetka Community House Board of Governors and the organization overall.

The Stewardship Society was organized to ensure that Winnetka Community House continues to be as responsive to the community in the future as it has been in the past. Stewardship members receive public recognition at Winnetka Community House and receive invitations to members-only events.

Highlights of the evening included remarks from Executive Director Tim McCabe providing a State of the Community House. “The last several years have provided quite an economic challenge for the Community House, just as it has for several non-profits, corporations and businesses alike. I am pleased to report the Community House has worked through these difficult times and is today on the path to becoming financially strong. With the help of our dedicated patrons and donors, Board of Governors and Woman’s Board, and the hard work of our dedicated staff, we have made great strides in reducing our debt and maintaining high levels of participation in our programs, fitness centre, theater groups, and event activities,” said McCabe.

“We are currently engaged in developing a strategic plan to help guide us for the next several years. This is such a unique place, and so much a part of the fabric of Winnetka. It takes commitment on all different levels and involvement in a myriad of ways to make this work. We are extremely grateful to all who have played a part in our rich history and look forward to working with you and others as we move into Winnetka Community House’s second century.”

In addition, Board of Governor and Development Committee Co-Chair Clyde Willian provided a sneak peek of upcoming events for Winnetka Community House’s 100th Anniversary. Willian also thanked the prestigious group for all of their dedication and support and encouraged them to stay involved to ensure one of Winnetka’s best treasures is available for many generations to come.
