Winnetka Community House is excited to announce a new partnership to bring high quality theatre classes and programs to our users. Skyline Studios has been providing quality theatre education on the North Shore for the past nine years and beginning this summer, they will be teaching children the art of performance at WCH!

Skyline Studios programs “feature songs, dances and scenes from Broadway musicals. Our classes improve communication skills, self-esteem and respect for others. They encourage students to explore their own creative voices. Most of all, Skyline inspires a love for the performing arts”

Skyline’s first program will be Summer on Broadway: Aladdin Jr., a chance for kids in grades 2–6 to sing, dance and perform a fun take on this classic.

Coming this fall, WCH and Skyline Studios will be presenting Seussical Jr., an opportunity for students to attend weekly rehearsals, learn scripts and songs, and the best of all perform the fun magical play at the end!

Skyline Studios’ aim is to create a program that helps young students gain the skills and experience they need to progress in youth theatre programs at WCH as they grow older.

Everyone at the Community House is looking forward to a long and successful relationship with Skyline Studios, and to bringing the best possible experience to everyone on the North Shore.

Buy, sell or have your bike appraised at our annual bike sale! Selling starts at 9:30 a.m., but a Wilmette Bicycle Shop representative will be available beginning at 8:30 a.m. to appraise bikes. A 25% service charge, based on sale price, will be donated to the Community House. The Bike Sale will be held rain or shine on the Community House front lawn.

Thanks to the generosity of our many patrons, volunteers and staff, the 2010–2011 fiscal year was noteworthy for Winnetka Community House’s fundraising efforts. A total of $1,022,675 was raised through the Annual Fund; Restricted Gifts; Antiques + Modernism Winnetka Show; the Board of Governor’s House Party; and the Woman’s Board House Productions: Wine Tasting; Breakfast with Santa; Bingo; Movie Night; and theatre group activities. We are also pleased to announce that as part of our restricted giving over $159,500 was raised in commemoration of Winnetka Community House’s 100th Anniversary.

In addition to our community’s generous support, these success stories were made possible by our devoted Woman’s Board, Sustainers, the Board of Governor’s leadership, and many other dedicated volunteers’ and staffs’ hard work.

As part of our centennial year, our goal is not only to celebrate the past, but to look to the future with confidence and assurance that we are providing you with a vital and multigenerational community house. To that end, we have recently completed our Strategic Plan. Implementation of the plan has already begun as we use the plan to help navigate the future of the organization. We sincerely appreciate those of you who provided input. We value your partnership and look forward to serving the community for many years to come.
