Winnetka Community House offers classes on a variety of subjects for all ages. Whether you’re looking for activities for toddlers, school aged children, adults or even dogs, WCH offers it!

  • Ages: 5 - 6

Every day promises to include a fun-filled delicious activity! We will chop, mix, slice, peel and eat all while learning Spanish! From the creators of Camp Amigos, Cooking With Amigos uses a highly controlled vocabulary introduced in conjunction with fun-to-make recipes. As we wait for our creations to cook we will have lots of fun playing games in Spanish! The instructor is a native Spanish speaker who has been carefully trained to implement the Amigos Programs curriculum. Please do not register if your child has allergies to egg, soy, dairy, wheat, nuts or berries. Bus service can be arranged after Kindergarten to the Winnetka Community House. Staff will be waiting at the bus stop and will the students to their scheduled class. Please notify the Community House if your child will be arriving by bus.

Everyday will be a special day at Fun With Amigos. We will laugh, play, create, sing, paint, cook and discover great wonders all while learning Spanish! Fun with Amigos uses a highly controlled vocabulary introduced in conjunction with fun theme days. All instructors are experienced in early childhood and at least one instructor is a native speaker.

Little Bits is a class designed for ages 2-3 to have fun and make new friends while engaging in art, music, free play, story time and end class with a snack. Each week will be centered around a new theme. Children will be taught social skills as sharing, caring and cooperation. Unfortunately, staff may not change diapers. You may register for as many days as you like. Children must be 2 years of age by September 15, 2017. This is a drop off class.

Moms and tots come play and learn as we see how much fun it is to be a toddler! We will have lots of exploring time plus an art project, a story and snack to end a day of fun. An adult must accompany each child. No siblings are allowed. Please bring a sippie cup for your child.

Our instructor can meet your child at the Winnetka Community House bus stop with an enthusiastic "Hola" and escort him/her to our classroom for an hour of games, crafts, and fun all while learning Spanish! Amigos Programs uses a controlled vocabulary that keeps building each week so words grow into phrases which grow into sentences. But, your child will be having so much fun that the Spanish will feel like a bonus! Each session includes a healthy snack and a newsletter so you can reinforce the Spanish at home.

Join us as we take your child on an educational adventure that emphasizes fun and creativity and developing lifelong thinking skills. Individual themes help establish an early love and interest in exploring our world through science math, art, movement and S.T.E.M. activities. Some of the topics in the coming school year include: Going on an African Safari, Traveling to the Land of Castles, Exploring the Fascinating World of Nocturnal Animals, and Understanding the Importance of Healthy Eating and fitness, Bears, Bears, and more Bears! Come over and have lunch and fun and make new friends! Come and take a different journey each week. Let's be a pirate and look for treasures one week and the next week become a chef and bake cookies. New adventures awaits you. We will learn through various art media, simple cooking projects, stories and more. Please bring a peanut-free lunch with a drink to class. Please notify us ahead of time if your child needs to be picked up from Winnetka Community Nursery School.

Does your child LOVE technology? Want to let them explore their inner Techie while fostering creativity & problem solving in a team-based environment. Working in pairs or teams, we?ll explore exciting S.T.E.M. based (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) programs such as Robotics & Programming/Coding), FUN-Gineering with LEGOS (engineering) and Digital Arts programs (such as Digital Photography, Green Screen.)

TWO great programs in one! Work with a partner to learn about robotics, and build & learn to CODE your own robotic creations using LEGO¬ Education WeDo Robotics Construction kits and software. Once we build our robots, we'll program them by learning object-based coding. This unique system, designed by the experts at MIT, teaches about simple machines, engineering, coding/programming and so much more. Next, dive into the world of video game animation by using Scratch to create characters that dance, sing and interact with one another. Working in teams, you'll add sound effects and music clips to create a dynamic video animation game by using software created just for kids. Creativity rules in this fun version of video game design!

Working with a partner, use your skills to explore all the secrets the world has to offer, including a mysterious castle filled with challenges. No matter whether you are new to Minecraft or already love the program, this program is for YOU! Explore the world of mods, Minecraft, one of the most popular video games in history, offers an amazing world of endless possibilities. Let your imagination transform your Minecraft experience into a unique world YOU create! This class is for Intermediate and Advanced students with basic Minecraft knowledge. Working in pairs, students will discover how to expand their worlds' abilities using popular game-enhancing mods. Learn to use, manipulate and evaluate mods that alter the appearance and game play. Build traps, arrow launchers, faster rail systems and more & participate in building challenges.

Enrich your child's kindergarten year with an educational adventure!Extraordinary Kids emphasizes fun and creativity, challenges curious minds, enhances learning through hands-on exploration, encourages critical thinking and establishes a life-long love of learning. Each session will explore several thematic units that will be integrated into all areas of the curriculum: science, math, language arts, social studies, geography, and art. Kids will discover what happens to your food after you eat it (Human Body), how to draw a picture using invisible ink and turn crystals into a bouncing ball (Monsters), how kids live in Africa and is their life like mine (Africa), how to be a junior paleontologist and find fossils (Dinosaurs) and much more. Children must be 5 years of age by October 1, 2017 This program is for children that are in Kindergarten.

Amazing Art combines all your favorite art projects and mixed media in one unique class. Kids will make tie dye shirts (to be used as art smocks for the session), experience pottery painting, create fired ceramic arts, paint a canvas acrylic painting, do recycled arts projects and more. Lessons will include concepts and techniques kids can use for a lifetime and the experience of creating awesome projects will result in great self esteem and a sense of accomplishment. Finished work will be taken home immediately. This is a drop off program. All new lessons are offered each session.

Tiny Treks is an innovative program for families who want to teach their children about the world through exploration of their natural surroundings. We believe children learn best through hands-on experiences which build self-esteem and encourage a love of nature. In this class activities will include short stimulating hikes in a variety of outdoor settings, music, art projects and games. Winnetka Public School District 36 will bus your child to our facility for our afternoon program. Please inquire through the District office. Please bring a peanut free snack.

  • Ages: 1 - 5

Some of the spectacular science program topics developed with NASA we will explore include Planets and Moons, Space Phenomena, Rocket Science, Living in Space and more. Each Mad Scientist will also be making some great take home projects too, including a Cosmic Chronometer, Lightning Launcher, a real, launch-able model rocket and more. All materials are included.

Join Mad Science for loads of hands-on science fun. Each week will involve experiments and exploration designed for younger scientists. There will be lots of fun and exciting science topics to investigate and things to take home. All materials are included.

  • Ages: 5 - 10

Wear Pink to class and celebrate fun for a good cause! Glitzy Girlz will make a donation to the Breast Cancer Foundation at the end of October. Our Glitzy team will be doing hair, make-up and nails all in PINK. Each girl will decorate a craft in pink shades and design a pink crystal bracelet w/ charm. Glitzy Girlz staff will lead everyone in dancing with music and a cute fashion show all in PINK. Sign up with friends!

This session is filled with fun, spectacular, hands-on science experiments. Some of the topics covered are: All About Animals, Radical Robots, Super Power Sources and more. Take home projects will include: animal tracks kit, hand crank flashlight and many others. All materials are included.

Come in your favorite PJs to class for an old fashioned activity and spa based slumber party! Glitzy Girlz staff will teach you how to do your own manicures/pedicures with a nail/toe application of great colors. (Foot brush and cuticle stick to take home) Our activity will keep us busy making an overnight bag and a beaded dangle piece. Music and small talk all night! A lil piece of pampering will go home with you. Sign up with friends!

Dads, join Glitzy Girlz this holiday season for a night with your daughter/s and team up on gift giving for females in the family! Moms, this is your chance to send them ?shopping? together for YOU! Each couple will make three gifts: Ceramic item, wood frame item (you can have your photo taken) and beaded jewelry piece. A gift wrapping station will help conceal your treasures with gift tags and ribbons. Holiday music and a little treat for each couple will end the night. A must attend for the memory book! Each additional child fee is Member is $43 and Non Member is $52 per additional child in the same family.
