Winnetka Community House offers performing arts programming for every interest!

The Winnetka Dance Studio offers all levels and types. Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and Ballroom are just a few. In June, participants in our youth classes perform in our annual Dance Recital.

Matz Hall is one of the North Shore’s most historic and active theaters. We partner with Skyline Studios to offer young children an acting experience they’ll never forget.

We also offer music classes for all ages. The Music Institute of Chicago offers Musikgarten classes for parents and babies. Guitar and Piano lessons are also available for all ages.

Are you ready to amaze all your friends? Now is your chance to learn incredible magic! This one-day workshop will teach children how to perform amazing magic tricks. The tricks are designed to be perfect for all ages. Following the class, the children will be putting on shows and amazing audiences with their new magical skills. Each class teaches new tricks, so be sure to sign up for multiple classes. In addition to just learning the tricks, children will be given their very own magic kit to take home. Space is limited!

Join us for a fun Hawaiian Cultural Program with ?Malama? (Sheri Winkelmann) designed for children ages 4-8. In this workshop children will begin by learning some authentic fun Hawaiian words, followed by a demonstration and opportunity to play authentic Hula Kahiko instruments. Then the children will learn the basic steps of Hula, where the feet keep the rhythmn, and the hands tell the story. After the Hula basics are taught, children will see a performance of the Hukilau Hula Dance performed by the instructor, and then learn the full dance. (Hula skirts will be provided for the workshop, but not to keep). The workshop concludes with a fun games designed around a Hawaiian theme! Please bring a light snack. Learn Hawaiian culture from a professional Hula Dancer who trained in the art of 'Hula Kahiko', and danced at Waimea Falls State Park on Oahu, Hawaii, as well as training with Hawaiian cultural treasure, 'Halau O Kekui' on the Big Island. Please bring an individual snack (peanut free).

This class is for beginner to advanced guitarists of all ages. Students of this course have learned: lead guitar, rhythm guitar, singing while playing, songwriting, improvising, how to figure out songs by ear, and much more! Students of this course have learned styles ranging from Pop, to Rock, Blues, Folk, Classical, Bossa Nova, Flamenco, and beyond. Let an experienced and versatile instructor guide you to reaching your musical goals. Trial lessons can be arranged upon request. Contact us today! Please bring your own guitar. All ages are welcome. This very popular camp incorporates imagination, movement, pantomime, music, dance and enchanting costumes to make for a wonderful summer experience. Each week we will explore a new theme, learn basic ballet, improve motor skills, complete an arts & crafts project and enjoy a yummy snack. Please have your child toilet trained as the insturctor will not change diapers. This camp meets one cay a week for two hours. You may sign up for as many days as you wish. Please bring a small snack to class, we will provide water during snack time.

This class is for young children interested in the beauty and gracefulness of Hawaiian dance. This class will provide an introduction to rhythm combined with hula basics and songs. Participants will learn basic steps, hip movement, and how to coordinate hand and feet motions. Participants will also learn terminology, songs and Hawaiian dances in order for students to have a better understanding of the Polynesian culture..

Do you and your friends want to play in a band? Join Rock Band Jumstart! Instructor, Brandon Seyferth has performed with and opened for acts including Jackson Browne and Jimmy Chamberlin (Smashing Pumpkins). Sign up with a few friends, no matter the instrument. Must bring your own instrument.Prerequisites: must have had six months of lessons or equivalent experience to sign up.

Let your child become a Rock Star! Each week, your child will learn about different rock/pop instruments such as guitar (acoustic & electric), electric bass, keyboards, violin, drums and percussion, as well as voice (using a microphone). Our fun "hands-on" approach will give your child a strong musical foundation, learning the theory behind music as well as the fundamentals. Our philosophy is to teach music on a multi-instrumental level, allowing our students to thrive musically on various instruments while building their confidence. Our talented college-graduate teachers creatively inspire all students to choose the instruments they would really like to learn.
