Winnetka Community House offers performing arts programming for every interest!

The Winnetka Dance Studio offers all levels and types. Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and Ballroom are just a few. In June, participants in our youth classes perform in our annual Dance Recital.

Matz Hall is one of the North Shore’s most historic and active theaters. We partner with Skyline Studios to offer young children an acting experience they’ll never forget.

We also offer music classes for all ages. The Music Institute of Chicago offers Musikgarten classes for parents and babies. Guitar and Piano lessons are also available for all ages.

Come and learn how to audition for your next theatre production. Monica O'Connor and her pianist Rob Denien will help you become more confident on stage. Each child will receive individual coaching. Learn how to play piano in a fun and creative way! Our unique approach is structured entirely around the student's needs. Regardless of age or skill level, we educate our students with a strong musical foundation, learning the theory behind piano as well as the fundamentals. All ages are welcome. Let your child become a Rock Star! Each week, your child will learn about different rock/pop instruments such as guitar (acoustic & electric), electric bass, keyboards, violin, drums and percussion, as well as voice (using a microphone). Our fun "hands-on" approach will give your child a strong musical foundation, learning the theory behind music as well as the fundamentals. Our philosophy is to teach music on a multi-instrumental level, allowing our students to thrive musically on various instruments while building their confidence. Our talented college-graduate teachers creatively inspire all students to choose the instruments they would really like to learn.

This class is for beginner to advanced guitarists of all ages. Students of this course have learned: lead guitar, rhythm guitar, singing while playing, songwriting, improvising, how to figure out songs by ear, and much more! Students of this course have learned styles ranging from Pop, to Rock, Blues, Folk, Classical, Bossa Nova, Flamenco, and beyond. Let an experienced and versatile instructor guide you to reaching your musical goals. Trial lessons can be arranged upon request. Contact us today! Please bring your own guitar. All ages are welcome. An introduction to musical theatre! Broadway tots will explore the beginning fundamentals of theatre and working together to perform. Broadway tots will act, sing and dance to well known Annie Jr. songs! Family and friends are invited to join us at the last class, December 14, to see these young stars shine! Each actor will receive a rehearsal CD for practice at home. Attendance is an essential component of a performance program. If two practices are missed, student parts may be reassigned. Arriving more than 30 minutes late/leaving early will count as an absence. No make-up classes will be offered. We will explore the essentials of a singing, dancing, and acting audition. No previous experience necessary, just a willingness to have fun! Play musically with your baby through bouncing and rocking songs, wiggle and peek-a-boo games, dancing, moving and singing. Activities are designed to increase your child's curiosity about music, develop listening skills and sense of beat through movement and establish the foundation for singing and musical thought. Participate with your toddler in singing, chanting, moving, dancing, listening and playing simple instruments while developing a strong musical bond with your child. Through activities that bridge the natural connection between music and movement, your child?s musical aptitude and focused listening abilities are enhanced and further developed. Classes provide an active hands-on musical environment appropriate for this age.
