The Interfaith Housing Center is a 34 year old not–for–profit
organization working to assure a housing market open to people
of all ages and income levels, regardless or race, religion,
family composition or any of the other legally protected classes.
Interfaith promotes integrated, just communities through it’s
four major programs: Homesharing where home providers are
matched with individuals seeking affordable and safe housing;
Fair Housing, which includes housing discrimination and landlord/tenant
complaint investigation, housing information and referral,
community education and assistance to municipalities; Predatory
Lending Prevention, which helps homeowners who may be victims
of unfair lending practices; and Affordable Housing Advocacy,
which includes the building of support for affordable and
fair housing in our communities. Interfaith works in 16 northern
suburbs and its membership includes local residents and more
than 60 civic organizations and congregations.

The Junior League of Evanston–North Shore is an organization
of women committed to promoting voluntarism, developing the
potential of women and improving the communities through the
effective action and leadership of trained volunteers. We
serve children, families and the underserved in the North
Shore area. A few of our current Projects include: Girls on
the Run; Save the Abandoned Babies Awareness Campaign; Santa’s
International Family Day; Contributing to the New Trier Food
Pantry; Scholarships, Community Grants and Voucher Programs.
Membership is open to women of all ages with an interest in
and commitment to voluntarism. Financial support for the League’s
projects come from sales revenues at the JLE–NS Thrift
House, 920 Chicago Avenue, Evanston, American Girls Fashion
Shows, Spa Day and It’s a Shore Thing ~Culinary Creations
from Chicago’s North Shore Cookbook.

Where Arts, Learning and Community Come Together!
Founded in 1924, the North Shore Art League is a non-profit
organization offering art classes for adults and children.
As the only art center located in Winnetka, the NSAL not only
offers art education, but also lectures, workshops, field
trips and an ongoing series of gallery shows to the entire
North Shore community.
Located on the second floor of the Community House, classes
are held in an historic, professional art studio featuring
skylights and a large stone fireplace as well as a well-equipped
print room and ceramics facility. Classes in drawing, painting
(oil, acrylic, watercolor), ceramics, etching, printmaking,
figure study, and more are taught by a distinguished faculty
– offering a unique, creative experience.
League members may exhibit at the annual Members’ Show
and throughout the year in new gallery space within the Community
House. Membership benefits also include generous discounts
at various art supply stores in the area and a newsletter
subscription.

The Winnetka Youth Organization (WYO) is a non–profit
community youth center, which has served high school age youth
in Winnetka and surrounding communities since 1966. The mission
of the WYO is to foster individual development in high school
youth by providing adult to youth mentoring, as well as social,
educational and community service opportunities in a safe,
informal environment. The drop–in center is open after
school and weekends, Tuesday through Sunday.

A nationally accredited preschool for children ages 3–5,
offering indoor and outdoor activities in a stimulating environment
in which physical, social, intellectual and emotional growth
is encouraged. Learning materials encourage creativity, promote
cognitive growth and develop manipulative skills. The school
also includes an extended day program and “Lunch Bunch”
program. WCNS’s extended day program, Splendid Day,
is an enriching afternoon for children ages three to six years.
The children receive a nourishing hot lunch and plenty of
opportunity for stimulating indoor and outdoor play activities.
A child may register for one to five days per week. Transportation
can be provided from Winnetka elementary schools. For more
