No matter what your sport your child is looking for, Winnetka Community House has it covered. We offer baseball, football, golf, soccer, fencing and more. We also offer our annual classic Winnetka Community House Youth Basketball League!

We’ve got adults covered to! We have great programs like Pilates, Tai Chi and more than a dozen Group Exercise classes. All that on top of our great Fitness Centre!

Our basketball clinic will help the beginner and advanced basketball player. Each week will cater to a different fundamental basketball skill. This Hot Shots Sports "Bootcamp" provides students with the skills, knowledge and confidence to lead physically active lives. All activities are designed to improve motor skills, muscular strength and endurance, flexibility, body composition and cardiovascular endurance. The curriculum consists of a variety of sports, movement, balance and strength building activities. These activities are all designed to promote maximum participation from the students, regardless of skill level or prior sport experience.

This introductory course will expose participants to the basics of gymnastics, working on balance and how to control their core and form. Participants will learn on how to properly invert themselves and do so in a safe a controlled manner, while also working on basic technique. This intermediate class will work great for both beginners and those with a solid foundation of gymnastics form and technique. Participants will focus on developing control and balance while learning more advanced concepts on how to control the body during handstands, handsprings, and cartwheels. Kids will be exposed to a general knowledge of all the different events involved in gymnastics, and how each event requires a different skill set.

The Olympic sport of fencing demands a blend of tactical and strategic thought and a physical execution of those decisions. This has led many to describe the sport as "physical chess." Fencing also teaches balance and discipline and even more than this, it's fun! This class is for those new to fencing or those who would like to work on the basic skills. This class will cover basic rules, etiquette, basic footwork, attacks and defenses. Classes will consist of warm up time, footwork time, group lesson and bouting. All equipment is provided.

Striker Tots Soccer is for young players who are looking for the perfect early soccer experience. Our specially designed curriculum uses age appropriate activities and games specifically designed to increase balance, body awareness, motor skills, and make soccer fun.Trappers:Trappers introduces the fun and excitement of the world?s most popular sport, soccer. This class uses age appropriate games and drills to promote motor skills and familiarity with a soccer ball. Through our fun games and adventure themed activities, players develop skills such as balance, shooting, close ball control, and trapping. The Trappers experience is one that not only instills a love for the game of soccer, but also shows the importance of sports activity to promote a full and healthy life.

This unique program is designed to break down different basketball skills to better understand each component of the game. Each week will focus on a different fundamental basketball skill to better enhance the overall player. Each skill learned will also be taught in real game situations so players can apply what they have learned in games. At the end of each session scrimmage games will be played where teamwork and communication will be a main focus. Our goal for each player is to improve their basketball skill set and become a better teammate and player. This program will definitely prepare the player to be ready for winter basketball competition. Focusing and learning each skill individually will help build a more complete basketball player. The program will also have many competitions and prizes.

Join us for the most exciting league and fastest growing league on the North Shore! Be ready for some great games. Our 3 on 3 league consists of divisions for boys and girls of all grade levels. Teams will be competing for a run to the Championship with big awards to be won. The league will be played in a fun atmosphere where basketball fundamentals will be key to the teams growth through the league. 3 on 3 basketball, which recently became an Olympic sport, has been shown to rapidly increase player development through more touches and ball movement. On clinic days we will instruct on the fundamentals including 3 out motion which involves proper spacing, cutting, and ball movement plus screen and roll situations. This will help teams excel on the court and grow as players. Our goal is to increase individual and team skills as well as the players basketball IQ.League Details For: Divisions for both Boys and Girls divided up by Grades (K-1, 2-3, 3-4, 5-6, 7-8, 9-12)When: League runs 9/8-10/20 - Individual (Free Agent) Evaluation: 8/2910 Game regular season - Teams play 2 games Saturdays in 1 hr blocks. Compare athletes of today to those 20 years ago and you'll notice not only are today's athletes bigger and stronger, but they are also faster and quicker. In this clinic, athletes from any sport will acquire a quicker step and more agile feet. Clinics will begin with dynamic stretching which increases mobility, balance and flexibility. Then, athletes will go through a variety of drills and challenges to enhance their conditioning, footwork, flexibility, coordination and agility.

A step up from our Pre-K Enrichment program, kids will participate in multiple sports while getting the opportunity to receive the afterschool sports experience. Bus Drop off is available from ALL Winnetka Kindergarten schools on the bus route, and players will be picked up by Coaches in front of the Community House. But balance is a learned skill, and falls can be actively prevented. All games will have staff referees and timekeepers. All participants will receive a team t-shirt and commemorative basketball.1. Teams will be established according to school (Crow Island, Greeley, Hubbard Woods, Sacred Heart, Faith Hope, North Shore Country Day and more), there will be no evaluation. When filling out your registration form please remember to insert your child/children's school. Otherwise placement on a particular school team cannot be guaranteed.
